Course Outcomes

 

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1

Understand the types of tobacco and the characteristics of flue-cured tobacco.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2

Understand the varieties of tobacco and be able to implement the preparation of seedbeds and care of seedlings.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3

The learner will learn and understand the importance of land preparation and fertilisation.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 4

Understand the time of planting, pulling of seedlings, water and organisation at planting.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 5

The learner will be able to manage and control weeds, disease and pests and implement topping and suckering of the crop.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 6

The learner will be able to understand the reaping process including the time of reaping, methods of reaping and accommodation of the reaped crop in barns.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 7

The learner will be able to identify and understand the curing process of reaped tobacco such as the colouring and drying phases as well as understand the problems during airing, alternative curingm ethods and air curing.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 8

Understand and implement grading of tobacco including the grading shed, grading processes, bailing and grouping of bales for sale.
